4Subsea has been awarded a service agreement by Statoil for the delivery of services and research projects related to structural integrity of fixed and floating offshore installations.

The contract with Statoil covers the entire range of 4Subsea’s services; from oil and gas to renewable energy projects, from operational services to research and development, and from digital services and monitoring to traditional engineering.

The agreement means that 4Subsea will deliver services related to subsea installations from offshore wind farm installations, subsea wellheads, drilling and workover riser systems, flexible risers, mooring systems, wellheads and marine systems . In addition, 4Subsea works with Statoil on various R&D projects related to both improved operations of oil and gas fields and on new concepts for floating offshore wind turbines.

“We are proud that Statoil trusts us to play an important role in their subsea operations. Our goal is to provide great value to Statoil both now and in the future, with a digital platform that contributes to increased efficiency of oil and gas operations as well as development of new solutions within offshore wind. To succeed with this goal, we continuously work in the borderland between day to day operational challenges and research. That’s also where 4Subsea has its real strength,"
said Peter Jenkins, CEO of 4Subsea.

Statoil currently holds a 40% share in the Sheringham Shoal wind farm and the Dudgeon offshore wind farm which are both located off the UK's East Coast in the North Sea. Sheringham Shoal has been in operation since 2013 and Dudgeon is scheduled to be fully commissioned by the end of the year.

Statoil is also prepping for the construction of the Hywind Scotland floating offshore wind farm – commercial operation expected for 2017.

Earlier this year, Statoil acquired 50% of the Arkona offshore wind farm in Germany, which will come in production in 2019.
