The
construction of
Acta
Marine’s new walk-to-work vessel
has reached the halfway mark this week. Work is progressing according to
schedule at Ulstein's shipyard in Crist, Poland.
The construction of the hull started in February 2017, and it is expected
to be towed out of Crist to Ulsteinvik, Norway early November 2017. Thereafter
Ulstein Verft will complete the outfitting of the vessel and the installation
of the SMST provided mission equipment - motion compensated gangway and
3D crane with a 6t lifting capacity.
Delivery of the vessel is slated for end Q1 2018. It has accommodation
for up to 120 persons in 80 cabins and is intended to support offshore
wind construction projects for a variety of clients. Measuring 93m in length
and 18m wide, it has been designed to provide walk-to-work transfer of
personnel and cargo in significant wave heights up to 3m.
Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS it includes the X-BOW and
X-STERN designs. The company claims that the two designs increases the
flexibility and operability while at the offshore wind farm as well as
providing extra comfort for the crew though the reduction in slamming,
noise and vibrations.
Acta Marine operates a fleet of over 40 vessels which include wind farm
support vessels. One of its latest deliveries was the walk-to-work construction
support vessel
Acta
Orion which is carrying out
accommodation and personnel transfer duties for Siemens at the
Race
Bank offshore wind farm.
