AMBAU manufactures Nordergründe towers

Due to start almost immediately the AMBAU plant in Cuxhaven will commence production of 43m long tower sections using an integrated design of Tower, Transition Piece and monopile foundation designed between Senvion and AMBAU.

The remaining required tower length is a combined Tower Transition Piece ("Long-TP").

In addition to the tower segments AMBAU will also build the transition pieces and monopile for the Nordergründe offshore wind project and thus for the first time provide a single supply for structural steel below the nacelle for a wind farm.

The entire steel structure has a maximum diameter of 5.5 meters. A total of approximately 10,500 tons of steel will be required. The wind farm Nordergründe is set in water depths up to 10 meters within the 12 - mile zone of the German North Sea and is located about 15 km northeast of the island Wangerooge. The turbines are the 6 megawatt class Senvion units providing a total of 110 megawatts.
