Anholt cable replacement

Energinet.dk is planning the replacement of two sections of the submarine cable to the Anholt offshore wind farm during September and October.

In February, there was an error in the submarine cable that connects the Anholt offshore wind farm to the grid on land. The error was corrected, and after four weeks of outage could turbines again provide power through the cable.

Since then, Energinet.dk in cooperation with the supplier of the cable, NKT Cables and with the help of an external test laboratory analysed the error on the cable. The results indicate that there is a risk of error in the first 400 meters of the submarine cable from Grenå and the last 4 km before the substation.

To minimise the risk of breakdowns, Energinet.dk in cooperation with the supplier decided to replace the parts of the submarine cable, which the analysis indicated a risk could occur.

Energinet.dk expects that work to dismantle the new cable pieces can be started in late September. The work is very dependent on the weather, but is estimated to last 5-6 weeks.
