Areva mourns the passing of Luc Oursel

In a brief press release issued through the groups website, Areva announced the passing of Luc Oursel, President and CEO of Areva.

"We have learned with great sadness of the passing of Luc Oursel, president and CEO of AREVA.

All of our thoughts are with his wife, his children and his family.

We would like to commend his engagement and courage during these seven years with us.

We wish to thank him for his tireless work for the development of AREVA’s business, in service to his country."

Mr. Oursel stepped down back in October where health reasons were given.

In January 2007, Luc Oursel became President and CEO of AREVA NP and a member of the Executive Committee and of AREVA's Nuclear Executive Committee; he was appointed to the Executive Board of AREVA by the Supervisory Board on March 22, 2007.

In November 2009, he was appointed Senior Executive Vice President, Nuclear Operations and, in January 2011, Chief Operating Officer in charge of Marketing, International and Projects.
