C-bed, Dutch offshore accommodation specialists, have expanded their fleet with a tailor made DP2 offshore wind hotel vessel called the Wind Innovation.

Built for optimising the installation and commissioning stages for offshore wind farm operators, the vessel features a motion compensated walk-to-work system which allows for easy transition to and from turbine foundations.

“Compared to our existing fleet, Wind Innovation is a smaller but much more advanced vessel. Normally, our fleet accommodates between 100-150 guests, whereas Wind Innovation has room for 90 people in 80 cabins. However,
Wind Innovation introduces new and exciting features such as an advanced motion compensated gangway system directly connecting the vessel and the wind turbine foundation,” says Head of Offshore Division, Jesper Nielsen.

As well as the walk-to-work system, C-bed claim that the vessel reduces operation cost with it's 24 hours operation option. Sailing with it's UK flag the vessel offers a 4-start hotel service level.

“Wind Innovation is the result of close collaboration between C-bed and the client. Thus, the vessel was carefully selected, redesigned and ultimately rebuild in close collaboration with our business partner,”
Jesper Nielsen concludes.

Wind Innovation will be ready for her first offshore wind project in the North Sea by Q1 2016.
