Johannes Remmel, Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia, has put into operation on September 1, together with Trianel and 33 municipal utilities, the Phase One Trianel Wind Farm Borkum.

Remmel said: "About 50 percent of public utilities involved in the realization of the Trianel wind farm Borkum come from North Rhine-Westphalia - for them to show responsibility for climate protection and have invested in the energy supply of tomorrow. As municipal pioneering wind farm is a testimony that climate and energy policy can be implemented successfully together and beyond the borders of NRW away, "

"In addition, NRW benefits with 23 percent of industry sales of all provinces most by investing in the offshore expansion."

The Trianel Wind Farm Borkum comprised 40 wind turbines began with the establishment of the foundation structures and setting of the tripods in September 2011. In July 2013, the final assembly of 40 AREVA Wind M5000-116  wind turbines began. Within just eleven months, all wind turbines were built with a total capacity of 200 MW.

Trianel wind farm Borkum will produce electricity more than 800 gigawatt hours and can thus supply around 200,000 households with environmentally friendly electricity. Another 40 plants are provided with a total capacity of 200 MW for the second stage. "We are well prepared for the second phase with a further 200 MW and can benefit from our experience of the past seven years," said Klaus Horstick,  Managing Director of Trianel wind farm Borkum GmbH & Co. KG.

VBMS  recently completed the repair of an inter-array cable at Trianel Windpark Borkum Phase 1. The scope of the work carried out 22 July 2015 included the removal of the defective cable, and installation, burial, terminations and testing of a replacement cable.

Decision's regarding Phase two of the Trianel wind farm Borkum is expected to take place in 2016.
