Energinet.dk has published their System Plan for 2015. The plan focuses on a competitive transition towards a Green European market for electricity and gas.
"We must make an effective transition to renewable energy, which is affordable for consumers. We have come far, but there is still a big task ahead of us,"
says Peder Østermark Andreasen, CEO of Energinet.dk.

The main challenge for the green transition is to make a non-fossil energy economically competitive with the current fossil-based system Energinet.dk stated in a press release.

In order to better utilise wind power and make the energy system more price competitive Energinet believe that flexible consumption and new developments are essential.

"We must utilize wind power even better. We must make electricity consumption more intelligent and flexible, so we use a lot of power when it blows. Secondly, we need to push forward the development of the European market. and utilise renewable energy as much as possible and give consumers cheaper energy when we can trade back and forth."
added Andreasen.

In Energinet's System plan they outlined that the market for electricity and gas is bearing in the direction of more European cooperation. They stated that the Energy Union, launched by the EU in 2015, increased cooperation on infrastructure, security of supply and market development as well as regional initiatives.

Energinet also stated that  the electricity transmission grid must in the coming years through a significant renovation and expansion, among other things, as part of the green transition. Furthermore the gas transmission network need be only slightly expanded and become more responsive to a future where natural gas will eventually have to be replaced by green energy.

Energinet.dk is an independent public enterprise owned by the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate. They own and operate Denmark’s main electricity and natural gas grids, helping supply people, businesses and institutions with energy
