Halfdan Brustad, Vice President of Renewable Energy Statoil, stated today at the SNS Conference organised by the East of England Energy Group, that the company will use lessons learnt from other Statoil developments to improve the efficiency of the construction and the operation and maintenance of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm. As a result, the company hopes to achieve a 26% reduction in costs compared to the development of Sheringham Shoal OWF.

Some of the measures include the deployment of a Service Operational Vessel (SOV) carrying 40 technician working two weeks on and two weeks off, during the first five years of O&M which will be supported by a single Crew Transfer Vessel. Following this period, O&M will be supported by one fast CTV. It is likely that Race Bank OWF will use the same operational model.

Increased spacing between the turbines will be used to minimise the wake effect within the field enabling higher generation to be achieved.
