East Anglian bounty for ERSG

Specialist energy recruitment company ERSG has been selected to provide quality and inspection services to ScottishPower Renewables for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm project.

The East Anglia ONE project will require a vast amount of quality professionals to work across the world for the quality scope, this will cover all packages such as foundations, offshore transmission assets and wind turbine generators. The scope will cover roles in Fabrication Management/Supervision and Quality Supervision for on-site professionals, continuing through to the offshore works.

East Anglia ONE is the first of four projects in the East Anglia region to begin construction. It is being realised solely by ScottishPower Renewables and is located approximately 45km east of Lowestoft, UK. The 714MW array will feature 102 SWT-7.0-154 direct-drive wind turbines, each with a capacity of 7MW.

Siemens Gamesa is manufacturing the nacelles in Cuxhaven, Germany and plans to produce the corresponding wind turbine blades for the project at its new facility in Hull. Navantia and Lamprell are currently fabricating the turbine foundations.

Offshore construction is estimated to start in the coming months with the pre-piling work for the jacket foundations. Full commissioning is scheduled for 2020 and the project is expected to meet the energy demands of 500,000 British households annually.
