EMS Maritime Offshore GmbH (EMO) and Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH signed a contract for guarding the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm.

Starting in January 2016, the vessel provided by EMO will evaluate if any risk of collision or unauthorised entrance from not project related traffic is likely to occur and take measures accordingly during the entire installation phase of the 400MW project.

“We are proud to be a part of the Veja Mate Project”
says Jan Heyenga, Head of Project & Charter Management at EMO, “guarding an offshore wind farm is an important task of each project. We are looking forward onto a trustful cooperation.”

The Veja Mate project will be located 95 kilometres to the Northwest of the island Borkum and is connected to the transmission grid via the already installed BorWin2 converter station. BorWin 2 was handed over to operator TenneT early this year and is already in commercial operation.

Veja Mate  will be installed at water depths ranging from 39 to 41 meters and will be comprised of 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines. With average wind speeds of more than 10 meters per second at a hub height of 80 meters above sea level, the site offers excellent conditions for a high energy yield. The wind farm is expected to be capable of providing power for around one million people a year.
