ERSG have been awarded a contract to supply platform and cable client representatives for transmission system operator TenneT.

The representatives will work on TenneT's Dutch offshore grid system. TenneT plans to develop offshore grid connections with a capacity of 3,500MW by 2023, in line with the fulfilment of the country's  National Energy Agreement.

Maarten Bruggeman, Cable Lead TenneT Borssele commented:  “We find in ERSG a competent partner to help us recruit the offshore professionals with an eye for safety and quality in order to make our Offshore  projects safe and successful.”

The connections will be constructed in accordance with a standardised concept with preparations for construction of the first two grid connections underway and scheduled for completion in 2019 and 2020. The fifth and last offshore grid connection is scheduled to be commissioned in 2023.

Hans Slootweg – Country Manager ERSG Netherlands commented: “We are proud that we are selected by TenneT and we are looking forward to our cooperation in the coming years. From our office in the Netherlands, we will provide the best service to our client TenneT and to our most valuable asset; our Consultants. We will be able to deliver top quality professionals together with our colleagues from our head office in London.

During 2016 the Dutch Government held two tenders for offshore wind, the Borssele I & Borssele II sites were awarded to DONG Energy in July with a consortium of Shell, Van Oord, Eneco and Mitsubishi securing the rights to Borssele III & Borssele IV in December. TenneT is responsible for the installation of two platforms to facilitate the transfer of electricty from the four sites to the onshore grid.

TenneT also intends to install two more platforms in the 356km2  Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone. It is divided into four sites, with each site capable of accommodating 350MW. The first tender for I&II is scheduled to close in the third quarter of 2017 with another tender for III&IV scheduled in the following year. TenneT is expected to connect these wind farms to the national grid between 2018 to 2021.

TenneT is also responsible for facilitating grid connection for the Hollandse Kust Noord zone which consists of two 350MW sites. According to the Country's Energy Agreement the tender for the site will be opened in 2019 with construction anticipated to begin as early as 2022.
