Turbine installation and submarine cable lay works have been completed at the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm project in the Taiwan strait.

The turbines were installed by the  M/V TORBEN,  a jack-up vessel which was also used to install the monopile foundations.

The first phase of the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm consists of two SWT4.0-120 turbines turbines and is expected to deliver its first electricity by the end of 2016. It is being developed by Swancor Renewable Energy and is aimed at incentivising offshore wind for the Taiwanese market.

Phase Two of the Formosa project consists of the installation of a further 30 turbines giving an overall capacity of 120MW and is expected to enter construction as early as 2018.
