FoundOcean, contracted to SubSea 7, has completed member infill grouting services to strengthen a tubular member of the DPPA Platform situated within Morecambe Bay in the Irish Sea.
A horizontal steel member at elevation -7m on the platform was filled with ordinary Portland cement grout to give it additional residual strength. The member was 27m long with an inside diameter of 0.6m, resulting in a total grout volume of 7.6m3.
The contract follows an upsurge of inspection, repair, and maintenance contract wins in the past quarter, due to the increasing numbers of European offshore assets undergoing structural upgrades as part of life extension programmes.

CWind has today announced that it has placed an order for four new crew transfer vessels from Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC), a shipbuilding and consulting company based on the Isle of Wight. The order consists of two 23m aluminium catamarans and two 26m aluminium catamarans.

An innovative community renewables project in Orkney has received £1.35m from the Scottish Government’s Local Energy Challenge Fund.
Scotland’s first ever National Marine Plan has been published today by Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead. The plan recognises fishing and ports along with the more recently emerging addition to scottish waters, offshore wind and marine renewable energy. It also includes sectoral plans for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy.
The port has a perfect location for servicing the offshore wind farm during the construction phase and for serving as support port during the following 25 to 30-year production and maintenance period.
The joint statement was issued by the British and Norwegian Prime Ministers on the North Sea Network (NSN) electricity interconnector. The interconnector would run from Blyth in Northumberland to Kvilldal in Rogaland on the Norwegian side. There will be a converter station on each side where the interconnector is connected to the on-shore grid. The project is estimated to cost around €1.5 to 2 billion to be shared jointly. The interconnector is planned to be completed by 2021.
