Gardline plans 22.2m upgrades

Gardline has announced plans to reconfigure and refurbish two of their 20m crew transfer vessels. Following the work, the vessels’ foredeck will be extended by 2.2 meters and a two tier wheelhouse will be added allowing for greater visibility as well as capacity for an increased cargo height of 3m. Both vessels will be launched Q4 2015.

The re-launched vessels will benefit from a complete internal refurbishment and will be put into Bureau Veritas class. To compensate for the additional deadweight “Z” bows will be fitted which will increase the volume, allowing for more foredeck carrying capacity, as well as increasing the waterline length leading to a better longitudinal wave profile and in turn reducing resistance. Ultimately, this will result in much improved fuel efficiency for our clients.

Established in 2008 Gardline’s Coastal Services department has consistently been at the forefront of wind farm support vessels in the burgeoning offshore wind industry. The last eight years have seen us go from strength to strength and we look forward to seeing these new vessels capitalise on our existing market position.

In our recently published Wind Farm Service Vessel report, 4C Offshore made a comment that larger vessel are achieving larger utilisation rates.
