GEV's Project Manager joins IRATA

Following GEV's recent on-turbine trials of its blade maintenance Habitat, the company is further building on their position as contributors to the wider rope access industry, through the appointment of its project manager, Daniel Rowcroft, onto the executive committee of IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association).

The committee is responsible for the management and guidance of the Association and, with regional advisors established worldwide, come together to provide a forum and focus for local companies to address issues across health & safety, equipment standards, testing and training.

David Fletcher, managing director of GEV Group, comments: “With 10 years’ experience in Rope Access, Dan Rowcroft has first-hand understanding of the necessity for continued vigilance of site safety. His appointment demonstrates GEV Wind Power’s commitment to shaping the offshore wind industry’s strategic direction for safe handling of maintenance. Moreover, with our existing exemplary HSE record in providing rope access technicians for the offshore industry over the past eight years, GEV is well placed to make significant contribution to this worldwide recognised trade association.”

The company recently completed the first set of onshore trials for its blade maintenance Habitat. The Habitat was installed on Power Climber and Kaeufer access platforms in varying weather conditions, and ranging between 30 metres and 100 metres high.
