Gode Wind Offshore Wind Farm project starts foundation installation in the German North Sea.

On 14 April, 2015, the most visible realisation of a project started. The first foundation was successfully installed at the Gode Wind Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea. With this project, DONG Energy is building Germany’s biggest offshore wind farm 45km from the mainland and around 33km from the islands Juist and Norderney.

Trine Borum Bojsen, Managing Director from DONG Energy in Germany said: “It's extremely satisfying to see that Gode Wind's first foundation has been installed. This is not only a milestone for DONG Energy and a step closer to our goal of installing 6.5GW by 2020; it's also a milestone for Germany in pushing forward the energy transition.”

With a diameter of 7.5 meters the monopiles are extraordinary. The largest monopile, which is 67m long and has a weight of 939 tonnes, is the biggest and heaviest monopile which has ever been installed in the German part of the North Sea. In total 97 foundations will be installed in approximately 33 meters water depth. Gode Wind Offshore Wind Farm is the largest single investment ever made by DONG Energy and once completed, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in Germany.
