The developments on the Hulls Alexandra Dock are beginnning to take shape, a new £2 million investment into a footpath and cycle route has been built to give the public an opportunity to see the developments first hand.

he three-kilometre pathway represents an investment of £2million and is the first element of the Green Port Hull development on Alexandra Dock to be opened.

Tony Bosworth - Friends Of The Earth Climate Campaigner said: "This is great news for people in Yorkshire and the environment."

The route, which will now form part of the Trans Pennine Trail, will carry the re-routed Public Right of Way from the river front to enable the Green Port Hull project, and will give walkers and cyclists the opportunity to travel from Victoria Dock around the outer perimeter of Alexandra Dock uninterrupted, giving unrivalled views over the site as the Siemens development takes shape.

The walkway has been built by CR Reynolds, of North Ferriby, on behalf of Associated British Ports (ABP) which is investing £150million to prepare the site for Siemens to begin the construction of its blade factory, service buildings and offices.

The Public Right of Way was opened by Hull and Holderness Ramblers Chairman, Jim Tulloch, and The Deputy Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Anita Harrison, with Simon Brett, Head of Projects at ABP.
