HelWin 1 fully commissioned!!

Converters General Grid Windfarms

Today TenneT announced that the converter station HelWin 1 has been fully commissioned. Full commissioning of HelWin 1 means electricity produced by Nordsee Ost (288MW) and Meerwind Ost/Sud (288MW) can be successfully transported 90km back to shore.The Siemens-made 576MW converter station is the second converter platform to enter full operation in the German North Sea.

TenneT also announced that the converter substation SylWin 1 entered trial operations on 17/12/2014, with the physical feeding option existing from DanTysk since the 26th November 2014 and Butendiek the 15th January 2015. From this point transmission capacity of 288MW and 144MW is available for DanTysk and Butendiek respectively. The second HVAC cable allowing Butendiek to transmit full capacity is expected to be installed 15th February 2015.
