Heerema
Fabrication Group (HFG) has been awarded a procurement & construction
contract by Siemens AG for the Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) at the
EnBW
Albatros offshore wind farm.
The OTM will have a weight of approximately 1000 tonnes and construction
is due to start Q1 2018 at the Heerema yard in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands,
in order to be ready for sail away first quarter 2019. Siemens will deliver
electrical equipment to included in the topside during its construction.
Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO of Heerema Fabrication Group, commented:
“We are very proud that we have been able to secure this contract, which
will be the start of many more to come. It is also a great pleasure that
this project enables us to continue to build on the strong and pleasant
relationship with Siemens. Together with Siemens we will go to any lengths
to make this project a success and lay the foundation for many similar
projects. This project, together with our recently booked Peregrino project
for Statoil, brings us closer to our 25% capacity strategy for 2018 and
beyond.”
Albatros
is located in the vicinity of the EnBW
Hohe
See and
He
Dreiht wind farms, approximately
90 km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea. The 112MW
project will cover an area of around 11km
2 with water depths
of up to 40m and will feature 16 Siemens direct-drive
SWT-7.0-154
turbines. The project will be constructed alongside another of EnBW projects,
Hohe
See.
