Jan De Nul Group has secured two contracts with Dong Energy to execute cable installation works for the Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm in Liverpool Bay. A first one for the installation of the export cables, and a second one for the installation of the infield cables.

Jan De Nul Group will install and bury the 25km export cable between the offshore transformer platform and the beach as well as the 32 infield cables between the wind turbines and the offshore transformer platform, including crossing and protection of existing cables and pipelines For both installation works, which will take place during spring and summer 2016, Jan De Nul Group will use its Cable Laying Vessel Willem de Vlamingh.

The burial of the export cable will be executed by Jan De Nul Group’s Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger modified with side installation pipe and for the trenching of the infield cables Jan De Nul Group will use its subsea trencher UTV1200.

In March, DONG Energy also awarded the export cable installation (laying and burial) for the Race Bank Offshore Windfarm for which Jan De Group during summer 2016 will use its new Cable Laying Vessel Isaac Newton.

Back on April 1st, VBMS and VolkerInfra were appointed by DONG Energy to install export cables for new Burbo Bank extension wind farm. The works consist of two 600 meter duct installations, both intertidal and onshore, between Rhyl and Prestatyn at the west coast of the UK.
