Island of Jeju, South Korea, looks set to start installation of the 30MW Tamra Offshore Wind Farm in March/April, at a cost of KRW 140bn, first power is expected in 2016.

The two other Jeju projects 'Hallym' and 'Daejeong (Vena)' have come across a few problems with the environmental impact assessments, Hallym has had four assessments and is in the position to be reconsidered after its 4th attempt. The oppositions made against the wind farm were as such: Fishery damage, Impact on ocean environment and impacts on marine eco system. .

Hallym offshore wind farm is expecting 100MWH with 28 turbines installed, the turbine model has not yet been decided. Daejeong (Vena), which will consists of 24 S7 Samsung turbines each rated at 7MW, resulting in 168MW capacity.

As the environmental assessments are still ongoing for Hallym, it's difficult to determine the exact time the projects will be completed. The project was scheduled to start in 2017 but due to the assessment set back and local complaints KEPCO, the developers are unsure as to when this 100MW project will begin.
