Siemens Wind Power has awarded K2 Management with a contract to support the company with EHS resources for three offshore wind projects in the European North Sea; Butendiek, Westermeerwind and Amrumbank.

"We are pleased to support Siemens Wind Power with EHS supervision and advice ensuring best possible health and safety performance during construction and installation,"
K2 Management Senior Consultant Thomas Broe explains.

K2 Management will support and help Siemens Wind Power throughout most of 2015 with site introductions, task specific briefings of installation crew and general EHS advice to site management.

In total, K2 Management has been involved in more than half of the world’s offshore projects (6.5+ GW) supporting with project management, technical review and general owner’s engineer work.

Technology Remains Critical Element in the Quest for Lower Costs

Wind turbine technology has matured significantly, resulting in substantial reductions in LCOE and increased competitiveness of wind energy on the grid. Turbines have grown larger, more productive, cost effective and reliable due to technology investments. The next decade will bring further change, but the role of technology has shifted as the industry continues to evolve and work towards LCOE grid parity, according to a study from MAKE Consulting.  Blades and pitch systems remain the most critical elements to reduce LCOE, driven by ongoing improvements in aerodynamic efficiency, load controls and cost reduction.

K2 Managing Director in the US, Carsten Jensen adds:

"Different turbine sizes and technology need to be chosen wisely for the respective site and project in question. For this reason we support our clients to navigate the different technology options and finding the best turbine for lowest LCOE and highest returns. Moreover successfully project execution is a key enabler for lower cost of energy."
