Foundation and cageThe installation for the foundations on the Kentish Flats Extension is moving fast and is on schedule to be completed for mid June.

8 of the 15 foundations for the 49.5MW project have been installed as of today. Despite rough weather over the last couple of days, the installation has proceed to keep on schedule.

The cable laying barge 'Nostag 10' is on the site Kentish site now and is expected to start cable laying over the next couple of days.

Back when the project kicked off, Matthew Green, Vattenfall’s Project Director for Kentish Flats Extension, said: “A number of large vessels will be offshore Herne Bay and Whitstable this summer as we add 15 turbines to the existing 30 at Kentish Flats. We hope local people will be able to follow the construction and take a great interest in what is a challenging and complex engineering exercise"

When operational, Kentish Flats Extension will be capable of generating enough power in an average year to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand of 35,000 UK households.
