The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Indonesia

SABELLA, PLP and MEINDO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Minister in charge of Energy and Maritime Affairs (No. 3 of the Indonesian Government) and France's ambassador to Indonesia. The partners are already working on the engineering of the first project to be implemented this year.

For SABELLA this is the culmination of its International business activities and a high level recognition of the interest in its technology choices. The Indonesian delegation will also be present at Brest in April to visit the assembly site of the tidal Sabella D10.

This MOU will allow SABELLA to develop energy solutions in Indonesia and  provide predictable, renewable electricity to isolated communities.

Overall, the objective of the three partners is to install turbines from 50 kW to 2.500 MW in Indonesia in order to exploit the country's marine current resources.  With its range of solutions, SABELLA is able to adapt to the characteristics of the different sites of interest: available depth of water current velocities encountered and local energy needs.

This solution according to Sabella is perfectly suited to Indonesia, with its 17,000 islands stretching over a marine area 12 million sq km and has the potential to create hundreds of local jobs.

A new way of producing electricity

Sabella states "This innovative technology will allow the electrification of many islands and isolated communities in Indonesia, without requiring the implementation of complex and expensive terrestrial infrastructure. These territories have now low electrification levels, and electricity is mainly of thermal origin. The energy produced (reliable, silent and ecological) will be transmitted to thousands of homes, thus contributing to the economic development of these territories.
