MeyGen prepare to submit Decommissioning Programme

Notice – Under Section 105 to 114 of the Energy Act 2004, MeyGen Ltd. is required to submit and eventually carry out a Decommissioning Programme.

MeyGen Ltd. is now carrying out a 30 day consultation as part of the Decommissioning Programme for Phase 1 (86MW) of the MeyGen Tidal Energy Project. The consultation period will end on 29th December 2014.

The decommissioning programme states that the components to be decommisioned are:

Tidal turbine generators
Turbine foundations
Turbine submarine cables and associated split pipe protection

This process will happen over the 61 turbines that are to be installed. In phase 1a of the project an expected four 1.5MW turbines are to be installed, each turbine equip with a gravity base foundation.
