Osprey_Carrier_2_loadedOn Saturday morning the first two foundations sets were lifted on board Osprey Carrier II barge (featured photo).  With the barge fully loaded it was towed to Vlissingen in the Netherlands where the first load out will take place.

The first set of foundations are due to hit the Kentish Flats Extension development area early May and the remainder will be taken to Sheerness by transportation vessel and loaded onto the jack up vessel ‘The Neptune’ from here.

Last Wednesday, Vattenfall were preparing themselves for the installation of the array and export cables on the 49.5MW extension. Cables are to commence load out onto the vessels in Nordenham in Germany  on 1 May.

Kentish Flats extension will be an additional 15 turbines added on to the already fully commissioned Kentish Flats, which consists of 30 turbines. Once the extension is complete, the wind farm will be able to generate 139.5MW of power.
