Global Offshore Wind Speed Database - 23 Years of Wind Speed Observations

Global Wind Speed Data

4C Offshore have combined their extensive offshore wind expertise with a reliable high resolution global satellite dataset to develop the Global Offshore Wind Speed Database, an essential resource for discovering the wind potential at your wind farm. Using NASA satellite data, we are able to offer you site-specific wind speed and directional readings for the last 23 years at 6 hourly, monthly or annual intervals, from a dataset which is constantly growing. An accurate and reliable wind assessment is extremely important in the successful development of any wind farm.

This high resolution satellite data (0.25°) has been obtained from up to 6 satellites operated by NASA, and has undergone internal and external validation against offshore buoy measurements and two offshore wind meteorological masts. This dataset is designed to provide offshore wind developers with a record of the wind speed at any customer-defined site, providing a history at sites which do not have a long established meteorological mast.

The wind speed data is based on directly measured observations, not weather models. This gives the developer greater confidence in the data. The information is ideal for a first pass wind assessment of any site and can be used for determining daily and seasonal patterns, wind roses, Weibull distribution parameters, wind power density and extreme wind analysis.

Monthly Data only £995, 6-Hourly only £1995
