Seaproof Solutions scores Trianel II supply contract

Seaproof SolutionsSeaproof Solutions has been awarded a contract to its supply cable protection system (CPS) for use on the Trianel Windpark Borkum Phase II offshore wind farm.

The contract was awarded by Siem Offshore Contractors, a wholly owned subsidiary of Siem Offshore, and covers the design and supply of cable protection systems for the inner array grid submarine cables.

Seaproof Solutions’ production site in Bergen, Norway will execute the contract, with manufacturing expected to be completed by 2017 for offshore installation in 2018.

Installed on 11 windfarms, our CPS has a zero cable failure and zero defect track record. Siem Offshore Contractors has recently finished, on Veja Mate Offshore Windfarm, an IAC campaign 10 weeks ahead of schedule with our Seaproof Solutions CPS, proving our solutions support project economics and contribute to lower cost of energy for Offshore Wind.”

The Trianel Windpark Borkum II project is located 45 km North of Borkum Island in the German bight. The 203MW offshore wind farm will comprise of 32 Senvion wind turbines, each with a 6.3 MW capacity.

EWZ and Fontavis AG  recently acquired a 24.5% stake in the project as a joint venture. The two companies will own the project alongside EWE AG, the Stadtwerk-Cooperation Trianel together with a further 18 municipalities from Germany.

An official final investment decision for the project is expected in Q2 2017 with construction following in 2018 and operations beginning by the end of 2019 at the latest.
