SgurrEnergy completes construction monitoring for Borkum

SgurrEnergy attended the opening of the 200MW Trianel Wind Farm Borkum. The company acted as technical advisor on behalf of the project lenders during the financing and construction monitoring phases of the project.

Trianel Wind Farm Borkum was officially opened by the developer, Trianel GmbH, at a ceremony held on 31 August 2015.

The SgurrEnergy team began working on the project in 2009 and has been carrying out construction monitoring activities since the summer of 2011. The company’s technical advisor scope included monthly reporting to the project lenders on construction progress, programme and budget reviews, as well as on-site monitoring of progress through site visits.

SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, will continue to advise the lenders throughout the early stages of operation as it moves into the next phase of operations monitoring.

SgurrEnergy’s Andrew Cole, Associate Director within the Advisory Services Group, said: “Having been involved with Borkum since the beginning of the financing process in 2009, and working through a challenging and ground-breaking construction phase, it’s great to see the project now successfully into operation. "

SgurrEnergy, a subsidiary of the Wood Group, was founded 13 years ago by technical director Ian Irvine and implementation director Steve McDonald. According to the company they have been involved in more than 160GW of renewable energy projects in over 90 countries around the world.

Trianel Wind Farm Borkum , located approximately 45 km to the north of the East Friesian German island of Borkum, consists of 40 AREVA Wind M5000-116 turbines and will have the capacity to supply the electricity of approximately 200,000 households.
