SPT has been awarded the design, fabrication and installation of the suction pile foundations for the substation soon to be situated on the 402MW Dudgeon Offshore Wind farm.

The Dudgeon substation is being built by SLP, a company local to 4C Offshore based in Lowestoft. The jacket sail-away for the substation is expected for May 2016, the topside of the substation is due for sail-away August 2016.

"We are extremely pleased with this first suction pile founded substation in UK waters"
says Mark Riemers MD of SPT Offshore.

Mark added: "We trust this will create more business for the silently and swiftly installed suction pile foundations in the UK, after having installed several suction pile foundations for oil & gas platforms and subsea structures in the UK North Sea and East Irish Sea.”

Dudgeon Offshore Wind farm consists of 67 SWT-6.0-154 Siemens turbines, resulting in 402MW. The project is 38.2km from the coast Cromer, North Norfolk. Dudgeon will supply enough energy to power up to approximately 410,000 UK homes.
