TÜV Rheinland to monitor Senvion blade production

SenvionTÜV Rheinland has been commissioned by wind turbine manufacturer Senvion to monitor the production of rotor blades for the offshore wind farm Trianel Windpark Borkum II. Senvion GmbH is to supply 32 turbines for the project; type 6.3M152.

TÜV Rheinland's scope includes observing documentation, checking that the blades adhere to the production documents, the rules of technology are met and that specific quality requirements set down in the specifications are met as well as that deadlines.

The Trianel Windpark Borkum II project is located in the immediate vicinity of Trianel Windpark Borkum I, approximately 45km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea and will share the same substation. Construction is expected to commence in spring 2018 and the project is backed by 20 shareholders from Germany and Switzerland.

With a capacity of 203MW it will cover an area of around 33km2 with an array of 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines equipped with a power upgrade. It is anticipated to meet the energy demands for up to 239,000 homes when complete.
