Alexander Heitmann, Head of the department Offshore Windenergie (offshore wind energy) of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbHTÜV SÜD is attending the construction of the new offshore wind farm Nordsee One about 40 kilometres off the North Sea island Juist. The international testing and certification corporation has been awarded the contract with the certification of the implementation phase by the project company Nordsee One GmbH, which is a joint venture of the Canadian Northland Power Inc. and the German RWE Innogy GmbH. This includes the monitoring of manufacturing, transport, erection/installation and commissioning until operational release according to BSH-standards.

The kickoff for the construction of the new offshore wind farm was in March 2015, after financial close for the project Nordsee One. With their completion in 2017, the 54 wind turbines of the type Senvion 6.2M 126 will have an electrical power of 332 MW and will therefore cover the power requirement of about 400.000 households. As early as in 2016, the offshore work for the wind farm is due to begin.
Offshore industry trusts in TÜV SÜD’s performance capability

“The wind farm Nordsee One is another milestone for offshore wind energy and the energy revolution in Germany”
, says Alexander Heitmann, Head of the department Offshore Windenergie (offshore wind energy) of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH in Hamburg. “We are very happy about this major order and the herein related confidence in us of Nordsee One GmbH. After the order for the certification of the wind farm Sandbank has been placed in October 2014, we can once again prove that TÜV SÜD is the right partner for services regarding certification, testing and inspection in the field of offshore wind energy.”

TÜV SÜD experts will shortly begin with the first audits at the manufacturer’s facilities where the experts will check the manufacturing conditions, under which the different components will be produced. “With this, we are making an important contribution to the project”, Ullrich Knopf points out, responsible project manager at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. “Decisive for a successful realisation is that all components are produced according to the state of the art, that they conform with the plannings and that all requirements of the Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency) are met.”
