The company's latest contract is a little different however; it will be supplying its vessel Katie Louise and her crew to be used to wash the towers of the 88 wind turbines which make up the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, located between 9-17 miles off the coast of North Norfolk in the Greater Wash.

The maintenance and servicing of the growing number of UK offshore wind farms has already created many new business opportunities in the supply chain that has quickly developed around the young offshore wind energy industry.

Norfolk based Tidal Transit has been at the forefront of the UK supply chain, chartering its growing fleet of purpose-designed Personnel Transport Vessels [PTVs] and their crews to the developers and operators of five offshore wind farms since 2011.

"This is an industry cleaning project of different scale"
, said Tidal Transit's Commercial Director Leo Hambro. "Static metal structures in the salty air of the North Sea attract a range of algae, seaweed and other marine detritus that needs to be washed away.

"Our catamaran Katie Louise was designed to be a flexible vessel, and she is now being fitted-out with all the pressure washing equipment needed for this task."

Weather permitting, the cleaning operation will start during March 2015 and it is estimated that there will be around 20 day's work, which is likely to be spread across an elapsed period of 45 days.

Leo Hambro added: "Many of the more innovative and entrepreneurial companies in East Anglia are now generating significant sales income having adapted their product and service offerings to suit the needs of the offshore wind energy industry.

"With Dudgeon, Race Bank, Triton Knoll and East Anglia Array offshore wind farms still to be constructed off the our coastline, the future looks very exciting."
