As planned, three T1 Tocardo turbines have been installed into the Afslutidijk. The devices, which are attached to a steel bar, have been secured to the damn at the sluice of the Afslutidijk.

Previously, a single 0.08MW T1 turbine was installed at the Afslutidijk for testing back in 2008 under the name Den Oever. It was tested for durability in the fast flowing waters of the sluice gate.

Utility Greenchoice has been chosen as the most suitable provider to buy and distribute the 3MW generated from the T1 turbines to the Dutch grid. Tidal Testing have been working closely with Tocardo and will be over seeing the three turbines for a period of six years.

Back in 2013 Tocardo's Hans Van Breugel said: "The turbines will give us vital data and experience in turbine arrays. There is no other turbine manufacturer capable of doing this. We can monitor this array in turbulent waters and are able to see how they react on each other.’’

Recently Tocardo has also announced projects in South Korea and Isle of Man,  Tocardo was appointed by the Isle of Man Government as one of the two preferred partners to supply tidal energy to the country.

In South Korea Tocardo will be working Ekornergy to install several turbines with an expected total capacity of 28MW. The turbines are expected to be installed in the coastal waters of the Mokpo Jeonnam region.
