In February 2012 there was some doubt as to whether 2B Energy will keep the site as Samsung Heavy Industries has expressed interest in the area. 2B Energy might have to find a new site. This could possibly be a site 2km from the shore which was part of its original plans. In April 2012 the Scottish Government announced that it will work with 2B Energy towards a 2 turbines demonstration site. The Scottish Government agreed a joint venture with 2-B Energy in August 2012.
