The completetion of the first Zhuhai Gui Shanhai offshore jacket assembly has taken place. The work required the co-operation of 750T and 400T crawler cranes to lift the 400T jacket into place allowing Panyu Zhujiang Steel Pipe (Zhuhai) Co. Ltd to undertake the assembly of the first jacket.

The four legged structure has a vertical height of 30m and weighs more than 400T which meant moving it was complex. All the operations of this installation took place by using a remote computer which allowed the company to achieve accuracy to the millimetre. This accuracy was important as the top of the structure is 9m x 9m and the bottom spans out at 15m x 15m, making sure the structure fits into the pin piles that are on the seabed is a tricky process and that is where accuracy is key, the two vessels were needed to keep the structure steady and prevent swinging.

Zhuhai Gui Shanhai offshore wind power project consists of 66 turbines and is expected to produce 198MW for South China. Seven jackets need to be installed onto the site and the remaining six are currently being constructed.
