Array cable installation underway at Blauwwind

The first inter array cable has been installed at the Blauwwind offshore wind farm, located off the Dutch coast. Installation is being executed by Dutch marine contract Van Oord using is subsea cable installation vessel Nexus.

The
Blauwwind offshore wind farm is being built 22 kilometres off the coast of the Province of Zeeland, and will be one of the largest Dutch offshore wind farms. Van Oord is performing Balance of Plant activities, consisting of the engineering, supply and construction of the foundations and connecting cables. The project is a 731.5MW development that will consist of 77 MHI Vestas V164-9.5MW turbines. Commercial production is expected in early 2021.

The project is backed by a consortium including Partners Group (45%), Shell (20%), DGE (15%), Eneco Group (10%), and Van Oord (10%). Van Oord is responsible for the Balance of Plant for the project, covering  engineering, procurement, and construction of the foundations and inter array cables.
