NBO scores Yangjiang Qingzhou III cable contract

Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables Co., Ltd. (NBO) has secured a contract from China Huadian Corporation Ltd. for the Yangjiang Qingzhou III 500MW offshore wind project.

NBO has been commissioned to deliver 75km of 220kV and 142km of 35kV cross-linked polyethylene subsea cables for this project. The first batch is expected to be delivered in 2021.

The wind farm is the largest project in China Huadian Corporation's portfolio, and will comprise 72 turbines, each with a 7 MW capacity, and one offshore substation. With planned annual production of 1,397 GWh, the project is expected to create enough power for 665,000 households per year, equivalent to 436,000 tons of coal.
