ProCon Wind Energy has secured a contract with Eiffage Métal and Smulders regarding the offshore commissioning of the foundations for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.

From May, the company will be doing the electrical testing and commissioning of the monopiles and transitions pieces until completion, estimated by the end of 2022.

A consortium including DEME Offshore and Eiffage Métal was awarded the EPCI contract for the wind farm's 80 foundations in 2019. The scope includes the design, fabrication and installation of the 80 steel foundations. The consortium contract is valued in the region of €500 million. The first foundations will be installed offshore, in rocky seabed conditions, in spring 2021, with completion being planned in summer 2022.

The 480 MW
Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, owned by EDF Renewables and Enbridge, will be located between 12 km and 20 km off the coast of the Guerande peninsula in western France. Water depths for the installation range between 12 and 25 metres. It will consist of 80 GE Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines.

The wind farm is poised to be the first commercial scale project installed in French waters and is expected to generate enough electricity to supply 20% of the Loire-Atlantique department's power.
