TMA Logistics has been commissioned by Siemens Gamesa Renewables Energy (SGRE) to provide the transhipment and transhipment of wind turbines for Windpark Fryslân.

SGRE is carrying out the project in close collaboration with Van Oord Offshore Wind BV. Van Oord is to install the monopile foundations and cables. These monopiles will also most likely be delivered via the TMA Amsterdam Terminal.

All foundation piles are produced in Rostock, Germany. They weigh 220,000 kilos each and are approximately 42 meters long. For TMA Logistics, this means that at least 100,000 m2 of land and 400 meters of quay will be occupied during of construction.

Windpark Fryslân reached financial close on 1st October 2019, and is to be built in the Dutch IJsselmeer, six kilometres off the Frisian coast. Windpark Fryslân is set to feature 89 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-DD-130, each with a 4.3 MW capacity.

With a capacity of 382.7 MW, the array is anticipated to supply enough energy for around 500,000 households and be fully operational in 2021. It is being built by Balance of Plant contractors Van Oord. Foundation installation is currently scheduled to start in 2020.
