GIS Assistant (Offshore Wind)

Purpose of the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in the global energy transition. 4C Offshore is a leading provider of strategic market intelligence and consulting services to the flourishing offshore renewable energy and subsea power cables sectors. 4C creates value for customers by providing them with the market knowledge and insights needed for tactical and strategic decision making.

4C’s clients include established market players and pioneering new entrants from across the entire value-chain. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated researcher to join 4C’s specialist Market Research Team.

You will take on a varied role supporting 4C’s market leading offshore wind research team. You will assist the team to develop detailed insights on global offshore wind markets and trends in offshore wind technologies.

Job Role:

  • Identifying the locations of new offshore wind related infrastructure. This will include; project boundaries, turbine locations, array cables, offshore transmission infrastructure, lidar deployments, onshore transmission infrastructure etc.

  • Ongoing monitoring of offshore wind project progress and reporting on project updates.
  • Tracking offshore vessel activity and maintaining vessel databases.
  • Monitoring contract awards and maintaining contract databases.
  • Keeping on top of the busy schedule of industry events and reports being published, and communicating these to the team.
  • Identifying missing information and perform necessary research.
  • Supporting the Market Research Team on bespoke projects and deep-dive investigations.
  • Quality control and completeness of 4C's information systems.
  • Engage with industry by developing a personal network of relationships across the supply chain. Be proactive with telephone and webinar engagement to pursue the latest information.
  • Produce accurate and up-to-date, world-leading, offshore wind GIS data layers.

Experience/Skills:

  • You may not have a degree, but you have a good set of exam results and a passion to succeed.
  • You are an organised and careful worker with a good eye for detail.
  • You enjoy technical topics and are interested in joining the offshore wind industry.
  • You have excellent writing skills and are happy reading lots of material and extracting the most relevant information into a short summary.
  • You are a confident communicator who is keen to get to the bottom of a problem by engaging with industry players.
  • You enjoy diving into details and solving problems.
  • A self-starter with a can-do attitude who takes responsibility for the completeness and quality of their work.
  • A solid secondary education and a passion to succeed.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills. Comfortable with cold-calling in order to gather insights.

Working Hours & Wages:

  • 5 days per week (40 hours)
  • From £21,000.00 per annum
