Market Research Team Manager

Purpose of the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to play your part in the global energy transition. 4C Offshore is a leading provider of strategic market intelligence and consulting services to the flourishing offshore renewable energy and subsea power cables sectors. 4C creates value for customers by providing them with the market knowledge and insights needed for tactical and strategic decision making.

4C’s clients include established market players and pioneering new entrants from across the entire value-chain.

The company produces a successful mix of high-quality quarterly reports, databases, webinars, online-tools and customer support to a growing client-base.

Over the last two years the 4C offering has increased in its focus (different subscriptions for different infrastructure classes), scale (frequency of deliverables and number of subscribers) and scope (within each subscription, increasing levels of detail are required).

4C’s Market Research Team Manager creates value by managing and developing an efficient, optimally structured and technically proficient Market Research Team (MRT), currently consisting of 13 employees and actively contributing to product development to support client use cases.

Job Role:

  • Ensure MRT understand the importance of timely delivery of subscription products.
  • Establishing proper and transparent planning of quarterly reports according to the 4C Handbook Guidelines, including communication with Sales.
  • Manage coordination of input resources to ensure timely production of quality outputs. For example, which team member assists with technical aspects (Excel, SQL, Finance, Technology).
  • Providing hands-on assistance with technical aspects of report delivery where needed.
  • Working with the team and the Director of Research to ensure "right-sizing" of databases and reports, i.e., identifying and removing low value content to make way for higher value content.
  • Communicate product roadmap requirements to the Director of Research and where required, assist with implementation.
  • Work with IT to prioritise development activities.
  • Optimisation of workflow practices and processes (e.g. QC routines, templates, standardisation).
  • Ensure team-wide understanding of critically important database structures and knowledge areas.
  • Ensure appropriate quality control procedures are in place and performed.
  • Organising skills development for team members where appropriate, for example in topic areas of Offshore Wind, Finance, Excel, SQL etc.
  • Recruiting, organising training, and integration of new team members.

Experience/Skills:

  • You hold at least an undergraduate degree in a technical or numeric discipline (or equivalent) from a leading institution. Post-graduate study will be well regarded.
  • Your experience to date could be from research, strategy, pricing or business development areas. You have knowledge of the offshore wind industry.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams, delivering quality whilst under pressure.
  • You have the skills to clearly articulate and communicate complex concepts, both verbally and in written form.
  • You have strong numerical skills, statistical knowledge, and are comfortable performing sophisticated analysis in MS Excel. Knowledge of SQL beneficial but not essential.
  • You are a confident communicator who is keen to get to the bottom of a problem by engaging with people face-to-face.
