Ørsted has appointed David Ortiz as Head of Market Affairs for New England. He will be responsible for leading the development of Ørsted’s overall market strategy and overseeing its execution across New England.

Ortiz joins Ørsted from the administration of former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo, whom he served as Chief of Staff.

“David brings deep experience in political strategy, public policy, stakeholder engagement and communications throughout New England,”
said Matt Morrissey, Ørsted’s head of U.S. Market Affairs and Strategy. “His extensive experience and strong regional relationships will help us as we advance development on our Revolution Wind and future New England projects.”

As Chief of Staff, Ortiz was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Raimondo Administration’s agenda and managing the Governor’s cabinet and executive staff. Prior to serving as Chief of Staff, Ortiz served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Raimondo’s re-election campaign. He began his career as a journalist at publications in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including The Standard-Times, Cambridge Chronicle and Providence Business News.

Ortiz will split his time between the company’s co-U.S. headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island.

Ørsted is one of the world's biggest operators of offshore wind farms and aims to have installed a total offshore wind capacity of 15 GW worldwide by 2025.
In the U.S., Ørsted has been awarded the rights to build offshore wind farms to serve the markets of Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, New York, and Connecticut. These wind farms will have a combined capacity of approximately 2.9 GW, with commissioning to begin by 2024.
