ØrstedØrsted has been granted permits to build the maintenance base for Borssele 1 and 2 offshore wind farm in Vlissingen-Buitenhaven (North Sea Port). Earlier this year, an agreement was signed with North Sea Port for the use of the port and the establishment of the maintenance location.

Claus Bøjle Møller, director of wind farm Borssele 1 and 2: "Signing the agreement with North Sea Port and obtaining the permits for the maintenance base are two important milestones for Borssele 1 & 2. We look forward to coming to the port of Vlissingen. I am convinced that we can realise an excellent basis in Vlissingen-Buitenhaven for the management of the construction and maintenance of our wind farm."

Jasper Vis, Director of the Netherlands at Ørsted: "We were well received in Zeeland at the start of the project and we feel supported by the regional and local authorities. The port of Vlissingen has an excellent infrastructure and a lot of experience in the field of offshore wind energy. Wind at sea offers Zeeland many economic opportunities. Ørsted is happy to be part of this and we look forward to working with local and regional partners."

John de Jonge, alderman of the municipality of Vlissingen: "Ørsted's choice for the outer harbor confirms the leading position of Vlissingen in the construction and maintenance of wind farms at sea. Our strategic location and our maritime knowledge and skills make us a natural center in the North Sea area for this new industry. I warmly welcome Ørsted and its partners to our city by the sea."

"North Sea Port is already looking forward to the arrival of the foundation for the construction and maintenance of the Borssele 1 & 2 wind farm. Ørsted provides additional jobs in the offshore sector with this investment. That will bring a lot of added value,"
says Jan Lagasse, CEO of North Sea Port.

Jo-Annes de Bat, Provincial Executive of Zeeland: "We are pleased that Ørsted will be able to build the base in Zeeland by obtaining the permit. This makes a new economy visible: working on wind farms at sea. There is room for that in Zeeland."

The wind farm Borssele 1 and 2 has a capacity of 752MW and located 23km from the coast of Westkapelle.
