2H and Vekta Group Energy Division Ltd have entered into a strategic partnership to advance high-voltage cable services for offshore wind developments. The collaboration was formalized with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed earlier this month.

The MOU outlines a framework for both companies to work together on offshore wind high-voltage cable initiatives, project tenders, and software development in the renewables industry, both in the UK and globally.

The partnership aims to drive innovation in cable system design and optimise offshore wind site layouts, as well as promote digital advancements through new software initiatives. 2H, known for its expertise in advanced engineering for fixed and floating wind projects, brings experience in structural, hydrodynamic, and geotechnical engineering, along with related digital and integrity services. Vekta, specialising in electrical engineering for high-voltage cables in offshore renewables, offers expertise in sizing, array topology optimisation, lifecycle costing, and loss assessments.

The companies have a history of successful collaboration on several offshore wind power cable and integrity projects.

Ben Andrew, Director at 2H Woking, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “2H’s subsea and Vekta Group’s HV electrical engineering are a proven partnership. I am very excited about the new opportunities that this MOU will bring for further collaboration to support our clients in developing their offshore wind farms.”

Charles Balderston, CEO of Vekta Group, also highlighted the positive experience of working with 2H: “Working with 2H on previous projects has been a hugely positive and supportive experience. We are really looking forward to future works together; it’s a strong demonstration of industry collaboration to tackle common goals. We are keen to help offshore wind clients develop their projects and further explore innovation and the use of digital tools.”
