Acta Auriga completes Bard Offshore 1 work

Acta Marine has completed its three year maintenance campaign for Ocean Breeze on the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm. Acta Auriga started work on BARD in April 2018, just weeks after vessel delivery from Ulsteinvik.

BARD Offshore 1 is located 100 km Northwest of the island Borkum and was inaugurated in August 2013 becoming the first commercial offshore wind farm in Germany. With 80 5MW turbines, the project has an overall capacity of 400 MW.

Acta Auriga is an Ulstein designed X-bow & X-stern DP2 offshore support vessel equipped with SMST motion compensated gangway with integrated elevator and crane functionality. Measuring 93 m in length and 18 m wide, it has been designed to provide walk-to-work transfer of personnel and cargo in significant wave heights up to 3 m.

The vessel is also able to perform 3D compensated lifts with its 6 ton SMST 3D crane and is equipped with a fuel-efficient drive system. In total 120 people can stay onboard in its 80 cabins.

Acta Marine stated the project has been intense especially considering the fact that Acta Auriga replaced two maintenance vessels that were initially performing the O&M scope on the project.

Over the course of the work the vessel provided 9,300 gangway connections, transferred 44,600 persons, lifted 43,600 cargo pieces and sailed a distance equivalent to 2,500x around the globe. Persons aboard were served 230,000 meals and saw zero lost time injuries.

Acta Auriga will, after a short maintenance stop at Niestern Sanders, continue to work in offshore wind in the UK as construction support vessel.
