Aerodyn engineering has signed a hardware delivery contract for a SCD 3.0MW turbine for a Japanese floating demonstration project in the south-west of Japan near the city of Kitakyushu.

The project consists of two turbines on two different floaters built by  HITZ Osaka and funded by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization).

The floaters will be located 16km from the coastline in water depths of 50m. Due to the harsh conditions of the site standard turbines would not survive the loads forced on them for a prolonged period of time. Aerodyn engineering has modified the whole SCD 3.0MW turbine to meet the site conditions.
