Atlantique Offshore Energy wins Gode Wind 3 substation contract

Atlantique Offshore Energy, Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s Business Unit dedicated to Marine Energy, has been selected by Ørsted to execute the full engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the electrical offshore substation (topside and modular support frame) for Gode Wind 3.

The 242 MW substation to be designed and fabricated in Saint-Nazaire (France) will collect and export the power generated by the offshore wind turbines through dedicated submarine cables, while remotely controlling and monitoring the operation of the offshore wind farm. Final notification is subject to Ørsted’s final investment decision.

With the on-going execution of the first substations to be installed in France, this signature reinforces the position of our company on this competitive market. Thanks to this announcement, engineering studies can start to secure the installation of the substation currently foreseen in 2023.

Ørsted expects the installation of Gode Wind 3 to begin in 2023, with commissioning being completed in 2024. The array will be built about 32 kilometers off the island of Norderney.
