BOWLThe second Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) jacket for the Beatrice offshore wind farm was installed in the early hours of this morning.

The jacket was installed by the Oleg Strashnov and will be used to support the second OTM. The first OTM for
Beatrice offshore wind farm was installed earlier this year.

The OTM's are designed by Siemens who claim that the structure is one third smaller in size and weight compared to a conventional alternating-current platform and can yield up to 40% lower costs.

Located in the Moray Firth, the
Beatrice project will be Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm, comprising of 84 Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 turbines. The 588MW capacity array is expected to be capable of generating enough electricity to power approximately 450,000 homes.
